Feb/March 2016 – The Plan v.1

This is my first attempt at a plan for what to grow where this year…

Though it’s more of a rudimentary guideline and first I still have a
lot of digging/tidying/preparation to do..20160214_121823

My Broad Beans I got in in November are starting to come up! My peas arn’t, but I’m thinking of starting off more beans where the peas were, so when the first crop is finished I’ll have more to come. I like Beans.20160210_133520 (1)

My Purple Sprouting Broccoli is sprouting now as well! Though there isn’t a lot of it,
and I’m still not entirely sure what the big deal about it is. It mainly tastes like

Garden Focused is a nifty website where you put in the crops you want to grow and where you live, and will calculate what you should be doing when, taking into account the latest predicted frost for your area!

After adding York I chose Potatoes, Garlic, Onion, Beetroot and Sweetcorn and it came up with the above which I like the look and also means I don’t have to do any work until March 🙂

The Plan..

Apparently this time of year is the time to start planning your plot, so I took my measuring tape down today and made this. Each square is roughly one metre and RB means ‘Raised Bed’.plan contrast

I haven’t started planning anything properly yet, this is more of a guideline than a proportionally accurate representation but it’s enough to be going on with. Obviously the only thing in so far are the Broad Beans, which don’t appear to be doing anything yet. Though we did just have a frost for about a week, so I don’t suppose that helped. So far nothing has happened to Les’s beans either and they were put in at the same time.
